WELCOME to the Homepage of „PONTIFICAL MISSIONARY CHILDHOOD OF GERMANY“

Our background
KINDERMISSIONSWERK „Die Sternsinger“ is the children relief organization of the catholic church in Germany.
It was a girl from Aachen, Auguste von Sartorius, who started in 1846. Being concerned about the poverty of children in China and Africa, she continued an initiative, which started in France in 1843. Thus developed “Pontifical Missionary Childhood” which is nowadays represented in about 120 countries, with a central office in Rome. In Germany it is known as KINDERMISSIONSWERK “Die Sternsinger”, located in Aachen.

Our aim
Kindermissionswerk “Die Sternsinger” links Germany with Asia, Latin America, Africa, Oceania and Eastern Europe. By numerous activities – especially by the Carol Singers’ Campaign - German children do support projects for disadvantaged children. For this aim Kindermissionswerk receives donations from children’s groups, school classes, families, parishes and donors in Germany.

Our help
With a constant focus on the preferential option for the poor we support projects with the aim to improve effectively the living conditions and educational chances of children irrespective of their religion, origin or color. We help the local churches to ensure the religious education of the children.
We specially focus on street children, working children, disabled children, children of ethnic minorities, children in war, refugee children, sexually abused children, children with Aids, orphans and children who are victims of natural disasters.
